Description: Join the Fun at Trinity County’s Great Backyard Bird Count Trinity County is gearing up for the exciting annual Great Backyard Bird Count, happening February 14-17. This global citizen science project invites everyone, from beginners to experienced birders, to contribute valuable data on bird populations and migration patterns. This year, local Shasta College instructor and birding aficionado Pat Frost will lead two special Birding Days in February. Join us for a fun-filled and educational outdoor adventure (weather permitting—events will be canceled if it’s raining or snowing): • First Event: Saturday, February 15th, 11 AM - 1 PM at Ewing Reservoir, Hayfork • Second Event: Sunday, February 16th, 11 AM - 1 PM at the Trinity River Hatchery, Lewiston Be an early bird to access our limited supply of binoculars and bird guides. Bringing your own is encouraged. Light refreshments will be provided. For those who prefer to participate from their backyards or other locations in Trinity County, visit birdcount.org/participate/ for guidelines. Trinity County birding checklists are available at the Trinity County RCD office, 30 Horseshoe Lane, Weaverville, on the TCRCD website, and at the Weaverville Chamber of Commerce, 661 Main St, Weaverville. • Pat will also be at Weaver Basin Wetlands at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 17, continuing a tradition of over 20 years of bird counts at the wetlands.
